北京剔紅髮梳Peking carved lacquer comb

北京的工藝——雕刻漆器：將紅漆一層一層往上塗加至一定厚度再予以雕刻，比較常見的有花瓶或是盒子。這是一把髮梳，雖然其裝飾性質遠大於實用性，但畢竟要一刀一刀刻出圖案來。

比較過其他相同紋樣的梳子，花紋雖然相同，花朵大小細節仍存在手工雕刻的差異，故此把為手工雕刻。

This kind of carved lacquer was a famous craft of Peking and is still practised today. Unlike bowls, where lacquer is applied to a wood or cloth base, this object is solid lacquer, built up layer by layer and then carved.

Comparing it with similar combs in other collections, the patterns are almost the same — they probably came from the same Beijing workshop — yet small differences in the flowers show the carving was done by hand.
